 Project: Stoker

Coming about at the tired middle of the third World War, entitled after the famous Dracula author, the Dystopia put its most brilliant scientists up to the task of creating horrifying soldiers that would cause the opposition to flee in terror. They succeeded, and named these creations after fictional monsters. Each revelation to the Resistance -- a telecast informing them of what was coming after them -- of a new creature out to hunt them brought terror, confusion and discord. In the end, creating them was the Dystopia's downfall, as their enemies' fear briefly united them enough to take the Dystopia down, days after the revelation of the "Devil" type. But the monsters -- altered everyday people -- still exist. Some locked in bunkers to die, some wandering the frozen wilderness.

The Zombie

Taken as children when they were 15 years old, these "zombies" were conditioned much more brutally than the werewolves or vampires, both subliminal and outright. They were basically "inclined" to leave behind all previous behavior and were subjected to videos and images of the more sensitive areas of the human body, and video/sound of someone yelling and assaulting them with a gun. This conditioning erased all previous comfort with the rest of humanity and provided them with suitable attack areas for the soliders they would be pitted against. They lost all ability to speak or think with previous human coherence; in fact, the only things they appeared to live in harmony with was wildlife and other zombies. When in their holding cages, the zombies would mellow down into a "herd", bowing their heads and waiting for the next occasion they would be sent out. Hugo Calais is an ex-zombie.

The Vampire

With the zombies covering outright battles, there came a need for terrifying stealth soldiers: snipers, assassins, etc. The vampires were immediately feared, becoming a scary story parents would tell their children about so that they wouldn't leave the house alone. Not a lot of conditioning, mental or physical, was put on them, but they were able to get around much more sneakily than a normal person because of a decreased weight and not much of a heat signature. Boney, usually morbid, and with a condition of loving to kill others, the vampires were happy to complete their jobs.

The Werewolf

The next-to-last creation of the Dystopian scientists, the werewolves were altered directly through chemicals and biological serums, so that a trigger would cause their bodies to change in a highly painful way. The trigger was a severe spike of anger, and they were mentally conditioned to lose all handle on anger management, so that one single hostile action towards them by people they didn't recognize would cause them to change and become frenzied. As it made them highly dangerous to be around, their guards were given special training and were chosen for gentle persuasion rather than bruteness; they were also put in specially reinforced enclosures deep underground when they weren't being used on the battlefield.

Easily the most physically deadly of the project, instead of zombies, who were created to take lots of physical damage and not care, they were created for carnage output and, to a lesser degree, a tough will. Werewolves would be shot multiple times and not seem to care. They were referred to as the Dystopia's cagefighters, when the Resistance was talking in code.

Shifted, they become animalistic and will attack anyone; a special shot will, for a few hours, give their allies a scent they have been conditioned to like, so that they will defend anyone who smells like it. They grow claws and their teeth (and skull) enlarge to look vaguely canine, get massively increased muscle tissue and strength, and when angry hyper-generate amounts of adrenaline so that pain does not bother them. When in normal form, they retain a heightened sense of smell, are stronger than usual, and are colorblind (both forms are).

Variel Connor is the only werewolf recovered who did not outright attack other people and was killed, who has managed to control her other side by medication and anger management therapy.

The Devil

The Dystopia fell four days after their completion of the first -- of two -- devils. Unlike their other creations, the devil was not meant to be in the fray of combat, but on the outskirts; the two subjects, already mentally prospective, were given enhancements to give them what the scientists half-jokingly referred to as "psychic" powers. They were designed to give mental orders to the zombies, werewolves and vampires, while unleashing horrible effects on the minds of the enemy soldiers. Physically frail, the idea was to give them an honor guard of werewolves so that they would be completely protected; they were capable of mentally starting the werewolf's shift, so that an enemy would not have to hurt one for it to fly into combat.

In short, a devil was on hand for one battle of WW3, right after the day he was mentally "born," and the Resistance lost it -- and most of their soldiers.
